Center stand rip off!!!

Well it almost fell over last week. one of the mounts ripped. Turns out it was almost off and was removed easily by my mechanic.
Off to the shop without the center stand. Did a return trip, good thing it was a saturday. Lite traffic. We exit around the corner to the welder. No gas only electric welding. he has two or three pits for underchassis work. We wait in turn and then bring the bike to a side inspection area. With a plate over it for support. Well it turns out he remembers me from asking if he had gas welding last week. Maybe i got a good price. Well it took two trips underneath the bike, and im thinking "this could be a diaster" Paid 200Pesos.5.65$u.s.
Back to the mechanics... His helper partner is there and we struggle 1/2 hr. not installed.I'm all dirty, laying on the floor (wearing a beautiful lite blue shirt) Hands mostly. Mechanic comes back and in two strokes of a hammer the centerstand is in... no charge but i gave him three 50's $4.25 u.s., but thats ok. The last two times he was here i overpaid him because i know he needs money for opening his own shop. Hes open now..
No cotter pin but we used a piece of steel wire. I have at home...I will change...
Thats one part of life here. dom rep. 2009 Late winter.

Well, that`s a first. I`ve never heard anyone mention ripping a centerstand off before. We had a thread a few months back about the bike leaning excessivly on the sidestand though.
If you want to keep that lite blue shirt clean, you will have to start taking a pair of coveralls with you, if you are going to be the mechanics assistant. <BG> Good to hear everything is good to go. Ride safe.
