Removing the chrome bracket is no big deal. It's mainly decoration anyway if you mount the seat differently. There are several options for the seat, it just depends on how creative you are and how well you can fab up mounting options. I cut the back of my seat pan so the "back rest" laid flat. Then I put a bolt through the seat pan and through the fender with an acorn nut underneath. But there are a lot of other options available as well.
Leave it to me to NOT be fond of something then end up banging it.
