Question Transmission output to front bevel gear 3 pointed "love joy" type connection

I've got slack in my driveline... when you let off the throttle going down the road and roll back into it you can feel it take up the slack and it jerks pretty good.

I installed a new rear final drive and driveshaft as the splines were GONE.

Splines on the new units are lubed and still good.

I am wondering if that 3 pronged thing and the cup on the other side can wear and cause this issue.

Obviously the bevel gears could be worn as well but without pulling it off I cant tell....

Just looking for past experiences and to see if that 3 prong thing does infact wear down.

there could be some wear there, but its not common. what your most likely feeling is the slack in the gears switching from drive side to coast side on ALL the gears on the drive train, including the primary gears between the clutch and crankshaft.

also if you have ever noticed when the wheel is off and the final drive is removed there is a big lock ring on the final drive side of the wheel if you pull that lock ring and remove the center piece there are rubber wheel dampers in there juat like on chain and belt drive bikes they get old and wear out

Did you also replace the coupler that is at the end of the drive shaft.
