won't shift

rolled my vulcan 750 off trailer after having carbs rebuilt, it has set for about 3 weeks now i can't get it to shift into neutral. it was setting on the kick stand if that makes any difference. any guess?

That doesn't have anything to do with the shifter. Put it on the center stand and find which wheel won't turn.

edit-probably the rear, make sure.

Bet he bumped the shifter and popped the C clip. If so you're in for one major repair

I was missing the "C" Clip, (allowed shift rod to slide/move horizontially left & right approx. 1.5 in.).....I took a piece of hose 1.5" long, split it down the length, placed it on the shift rod....preventing horizontial movement (engine) inward.....worked fine for years.
Unknown if shift rod allowed to stay inward(to the engine) if that would cause shift problems.

Is this a possible situation/solution ? ? ?

Get it on the center stand, make sure it is in neutral. If the rear wheel will not turn yet, undo the brake at the rear. Try to push the brake lever toward the rear. If it still does not turn start pulling the rear wheel.

This c clip doesn't sound good. I can't get it to go int any gear, the shift leaver just moves but tyou can't feel it go into a gear. and the rear wheel won't roll
