You need to be more specific....

Does it go into neutral only from 2nd to first , or from other gears too?

Does the neutral light go on?

Are you moving when this happens?

The bike has a positive neutral finder, that makes 1st to 2nd and back a little tricky to do without hitting neutral.

Make sure youre runnin a 10-40 NON synthetic too...synthetics make the bike wonky, and no need to run heavier oil unless yer like in Arizona.....10-40 works fine for most....mebbe a 10-30 for Canada and Alaska....

While I'm no oil expert wouldn't 10-40 and 10-30 have the same viscosity in cooler situations?

There are a lot of folks running synthetic oil here. 10w40 and 10w30 would be indentical when cold. Only issue with 10w30 oils is most of them are "energy conserving" oils with additives that are not good for a wet clutch.

I doubt seriously it's oil causing it. The clutch job didn't look all that bad. It just sounds like it needs some new plates.
