wont shift after cable replacement

Replaced shift cable and now the bike was only in neutral then ajusted the cable now it will shift to first and to neutral but no indicator light comes on.

and one thing to remember... you didn't mention it... you cannot shift into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th unless the bike is going a minimum speed... like 5 or 10 mph. this is of course for an unmodified transmission. if you have removed the PNF (positive neutral finder) stuff from transmission, then the above don't apply.

No it will not shift into gear even while moving, and the wires look ok as far as I can see have read that the shift pawl can become loose. The clutch engages fine for first but when I shift up it does nothing just travels the range of motion

Update, completely drained oil and made sure shift pawl was ok with it was fine and now it works like a charm. It found neutral as soon as the oil was drained. Not sure what it was but glad it is fixed

Me too, I luv it even more when they take the time to come back to 'tell us the ending'. Most times we hear the problem, different solutions, but never know which solution worked cuz' they never come back to say.
