Clutch pedal linkage????

i Just bought a 92 750, i had plans to do all new gaskets throughout over the winter but this project quickly got moved up to now due to what i believe to be a broken clutch pedal linkage. i have the haynes manual and From my understanding i have to split the crankcase to access this. the clutch pedal spins freely turning the rod its attached to. it is stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and i made it home with out being able to shift. any suggestions on the easiest way to get to this or what gaskets i will need to replace in the process?? I have the engine removed from the bike and am ready to tear it down, i just down want to get in over my head as i do not have much engine work experiance

That's the shift lever and linkage. Try taking the right side case off and seeing if the pawl is stuck. Sometimes it bends/ flexes just enough to stick and not shift. That's an easy fix if its your case. But if the shaft rotates without stopping the linkage is broken and you will have to spilt the case to replace it. You'll essentially need all the engine gaskets if you have to split the case, and lots of people go to bikebandit or partzilla. Some things you might be able to get at the dealer at a high cost. EBay is a pretty good bet for most of it too...
