Final Drive

Not trusting what the tech at the dealer did, I removed the rear wheel and the final drive. He did replace the pinion gear/spline shaft. but didn't change out the gear oil. Go Figure! I drained and replaced the gear oil. Will run it a few days and change it out again. The output seal in the final drive is good. And yes, when the tech re-installed everything he overgreased the outlput spline drive and I will have some grease coming down for a while. (I didn't want to remove any of the grease. But I installed a big band aid at the weep hole to catch any grease coming down. And he also left several pieces of installation hardware off the bike. Oh, and BTW, one more thing, since I was in the mood for checking things, I pulled the right muffler and it has been gutted out, which explains the more than louder non stock exhaust.

It is my final post on the subject. However, if and when you reach the age of 81 and can still handle a motorcycle as well as I can, why then I may take your unsolicited opinion into consideration.

In the future please try to keep related topics in the same thread. This could have been a continuation of your other one.

It's for forum organization, and to help other members search for information more quickly. If a single topic is kept to a single forum thread, then the information is more easily available for the other members. The old posts here are like a treasure trove of information.

No offence, but your age is not a shield to hide behind any time a moderator makes a suggestion to you. He is a moderator, so it was not unsolicited opinion, but an official suggestion.
