Question How to Install the Shaft Boot?

Any tricks to getting the rubber driveshaft boot back into place?

I've tried several methods, but I'm not getting it to catch in the groove. Part of the problem is arthritis in both hands, but I'm pulling with needlenose and vise-grips, and having no luck.

I had to wrestle mine on a few times because it kept popping off on me my after I did my splines.

I had more luck when it was warmed up in the sun....made it more pliable and had to work it onto the groove with a large screwdriver and pliars.....like getting a tire onto a wheel......just be patient and don't tear it....it will eventually "seat" and stay put.

Still not getting there. Maybe after the back wheel is on and the suspension sets down some? At least then I can roll it out in the sun.

Thanks,, I'll keep pullin'! Seems like there should be a tool for this, or a clamp. I recall people cursing about the boot going back on.

Maybe I should spray some ether, leave a trail, light a match..... 'doh!

Talking

That's scary, considering I was thinking of naming her Christine. Just heard on the radio, the "Christine" 57 Plymouth Fury is going to be at our swap meet in June.

denny, getting old just plain sucks, don't it? My name should be Heinz, with my 57 varieties of ailments. Take care of yourselves kids, regardless of how great you feel now, the body is not indestructible.

And where is that button for the thumbnail pic? One of these days I'll Google up how to do that here.
