Clutch Handle Problems

I put my bike back together tonight, and when I hooked up the clutch cable back to the shaft. Well there is no tension, and the clutch will not return to the disengaged position by itself. I'm wondering what could cause this problem, and of course how to fix the problem. The cable is in perfect condition, and was lubed before reinstalling it.

Thanky ou for any help with this.

I got it fixed. I didn't have the clutch shaft turned all the way forward like it should have been. The clutch engages and disengages without any problems now.
