Cluth Cover

Changing my clutch today, can anyone please tell me if I need to
use sealant on the new cover gasket ?????

I did work on the stator side and used a spray sealent made by permatex. I sprayed both sides of the gasket. Let it dry and then installed.

No mention in the Clymer manual about using adhesive or sealant on a new gasket for the clutch cover, so I would think you don`t need it, but I have no hands on experience with a motorcycle engine.

It does say though, if you are re-using the old cover bolts to also use non-permenant thread locker, ie. blue Locktite.

New bolts do not need the Locktite.
(They must already be treated with some sort of thread locker.)

A little grease on both sides of the new gasket - easy on/easy off.

I torqed to 69 in. lbs. on the left side covers. You might ought to go and check on Roaches engine rebilt videos for torqe specs.
