Does this sound like a Shift Pawl problem?

I'm going to look at a VN750 tomorrow.

I already have 1 Vulcan 750, but I might try to fix this one or use it for parts.

Below is what the guy said about it.

I know that it isn't a lot of info, but it sounds like it could be a pawl problem. Is it possible to be able to shift to 1st if it is the pawl mechanism? Or does it sound like it is internal drum/fork problems? Sorry I don't have more info. Any thoughts?

"I bought this baby on Craiglsit two weeks ago and today while driving down the highway the driveshaft or clutch quit working
The engine sounds great but it no longer shifts into any gears besides 1st and doesn't engage the driveshaft.
Maybe my loss will be your joy if you could use this as a parts bike or fix it.
And yes I did check all the fluid levels and change the oil before riding it so it has new oil, spark plugs, and air filters.
This has got to be one the best Craigslist screws I've ever gotten."

Almost sounds like it could be the splines or clutch .... just another thought.
