where is it comming from?

after a long ride/ or a week, i find this build up of black solution between the "V" of the engine it appears to be comming from a hose. i do not think the hose is connected to a carb, but could run to the gas tank. is it a vent hose or something? thanks - tim katy, tx

Pics would help. There is a black hose that is a vent for the tank, not to mention a few other black hoses (vacum lines) that are in that area. A pic to see what is & isn't connected will help figure it out. The "black solution" has me puzzled?

Edit: Ah! A misfits Fan I had a thought. Trapped in the "V" of the engine, could be oil!
