Tank swap

HI there does anyone know, has any one tried to swap 750 petrol tank for 800 or 1500 tank, quite like the idea of instruments and idiot lights gone from front of bike(much cleaner look) any comments?

This has been discussed here often.
The tanks are very different and would require major modification (in the tunnel area).
Not impossible to do, but a lot of work, even if you have the proper equipment.
It's not just a bolt on mod, that's for sure.

I was quoted by my fabricator a min of 8 hours to weld the 750 tunnel onto another tank...this is not time needed to cut the two tunnels out. That also didn't include making up new mounting brackets, or filling in the fuel petcock bungs for fuel sending unit and fuel pump....if the bike is equipped with one.
