Surge tank before carbs

have taken my carbs out 2 or 3 times and that is a pain with the surge tank in. Since I am shaving my ears is there a way to successfully remove surge tank without damaging anything or is it best to remove the surge tank after I remove the carbs?

Grace!

Have to unplug the harness from everything toward the rear of the bike. Pull the harness out of the frame and toward the front, but can leave it connected at the neck plugs up front. The airbox will then slide to the rear, over the battery box. Takes a slight bit of flexing of the box but it's not hard.

Sounds scary, but all the plugs will only fit one place.

I am a Pro Audio electronic tech. We unplug things all the time. audio gear and motorcycle gear seems to be the same when coming to the electrical/electronic stage. I even know how to build a better rectifer, but never have done it.

Thanks for the info.

I just used a box cutter. What, you planning on putting it back in?

FYI I didn't know it was called a surge tank. I called it, "the big black thing that is getting in the way of me removing my carbs."
