Carb questions....

The vulcan I recently acquired has k&not air filters and I gutted the exhaust....she seems to run fine...it had the filters I it when I got it...I assume the carbs have been jetted as she winds up good...I have 142-42 jets in them...is that stock? Also,I had a pop on deceleration, I put marbles in the hose coming off the "ears" ....popping gone...is there anything else I should do? Thanks.

Disclaimer here, I am no carb specialist, but the 142-42 jets seem
a bit rich to me. The Clymer manual has the stock main jet as a 132, and the pilot jet as a 38.

Of course with the mufflers gutted, you have greatly diminished back pressure, so you probably need a richer mixture to avoid burning the valves.

Now I will let the carb gurus tell you what you really want to hear.

Well many might have different opinions on your jetting, but all that matters is....
What do your plugs look like?
And
How does it run?

If the plugs aren't fouling, and the bike runs good....nothing more to say.
