New Petcock

I had a leak in my fuel system. It was slow, just enough to make the garage stink. So I decided to put a petcock rebuild kit into to solve this. It was easy enough to do and i was so excited to put my tank back on the bike and ride! much to my dismay, when i flipped the tank and walked over to the bike, it started dribbling gas on my foot! It was now leaking through the petcock so that it would flood the carbs if i actually put it on. I took the petcock apart and checked everything about 20 times. everytime checking to see if it still leaked, and it always did. After taking it apart and putting it back together so many times, i found that one of the tiny little screws on the faceplate was completely stripped out. By this point it was past midnight and i started at about 8. I had to quit cause i was contimplating just lighting a match and tossing it at the tank. At this point i went inside and started looking online for a completely new petcock, and much to my further dismay, it seems that nonone has replacements. Ive read around about people replacing our petcocks with manual ones, but i would rather keep the vacuum one. Somebody please help, I never knew something so small and simple could cause so much pain and frustration!

You can get the OEM petcock from any OEM parts dealer. partzilla.com cheapcycleparts.com etc

You'll need the newer part number, so search as if you have a 2000 VN750 instead.

Some like the TW200 petcock for a manual option, not me personally as OEM lasted 30 years on my bike, so what's $60 to buy a new one. The TW200 has been used successfully as long as they aren't a cheap knockoff of a TW200 petcock (ala eBay non OEM). Can go to a Yamaha dealership and pick one up most likely same-day.

Good price for the OEM one from partzilla at $65. Rest of the world is charging $90 these days I guess.
