RPM's fluctuating

My rpm's at idle keep fluctuating. My pastor rode the bike Sunday afternoon and had no problems with it. Then I got on the bike and started it and it was fine until I went to take off and I had the kickstand down and it shut of the bike.

Then I cranked it back up and the rpm's wouldn't go believe 3 or 4k. When I got home I adjusted the idle screw to bring it back down to a little above 1k.

Today I cranked the bike and it wouldn't idle. I had to adjust the idle screw back up for it to idle but when I got to work it was back to idling around 2.5k to 3k.

What is going on to cause this? I am not familiar with this problem.

Grace and Peace to you!
Richard

Choke sticking? So by the time you ride a bit and it warms up, the choke lets loose, it gets more air and you have the idle set high. I don't think I ever recall not having to mess with my idle screw as the day wore on.

I would check that the throttle cables are working without binding, especially the decelerator cable. If you turn the throttle grip counterclockwise you should have only about an 1/8 th inch freeplay. If you turn the grip to full power and release it ,it should snap back fast.

the throttle cables was the first thing I checked. Whatever it was it fixed itself while sitting still then I had to adjust it back to where it when I first had the problem.

Don't think it is the choke. But will check.
