Reed valve plugs/ Vacuum caps?

Has anyone tried using large vacuum caps to plug the reeds where the hose connects?? I'm trying to find an alternative to marbeling and coastering.

Do they even make vacuum caps that large?

You would have to try an automotive supply store. I think I've seen some pretty big ones, don't know if they come that big

85 VN750 basketcase ( yes its a true 750, and no smog controls, its good to be Canadian)
It will have
a rebuilt 96 top end, rebuilt 85 bottom end
degoated, Eared
stripped, lowered, raked, bobbed,
reed valve boxes shaved
ported and polished
balanced
right side dump exhaust
heads and cylinders shaved for compression
looking for smoothbore sidedraft carbs
possibly fat bob tanks
modified vn800 or sportster drag pipes or I'll just make some

Chopperfix

they don't have vacuum caps large enough...but you can get a heater block off cap that big...I don't think that is the right name for the part...but it looks like a giant vacuum cap made out of heater hose. you can get it at NAPA in thier BalKamp line. if memory serves me right it is about 5 bucks for one cap. Marble..lots cheaper

O'reilly's auto parts had a box full of "Bypass" caps where they sell all of the "HELP!" parts. It came with 2 of each size and like 4 different sizes. I needed the 1/2" size. Total cost: $5.50 and it looks pretty clean compared to all the hoses when marbeling and I don't have to worry about the coasters getting discolored.
