Problems with my 85

I have an 85 Vulcan and I'm having some trouble with it, the trouble is that when my bike sits over night it will have some trouble turning over in the morning. And today after work I went to start it up and it started up fine when I pulled up to the stop sign the rpms dropped and then the bike wouldn't turn over till it sat for a bout a half an hour, if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it, thank you.

Garage
need to get a multi meter and check battery voltage and stator output in the am before you start it take the seat off and check the battery voltage first then start and see what the charging system does. voltage should rise from 12.5 to 13.3-14.0 volts

I have some advice and it is to do a proper introduction under the Newbie Check-In section just as we attempt to tell the majority of all newbies that start their first post with a limited description of a VN 750 problem and never tell us any information as to their wrenching/riding experience or their location. If we knew a bit of this information we could tailor our responses of corrective actions without talking above or below the Newbie. We might even be able to put that person in touch with a member that was in close proximity of the Newbie and could give them a helping hand if needed. Besides how often would you expect someone to really go out of their way to give you free assistance if you just walked up to them on the street and said, Hey, help me fix my motorcycle." It is the same here.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"
**Really not sure if the Big "C" is back right now
but having to face the fact that this is a lifetime routine
going forward. Five operations done and it still continues.

now for the biggest question of all (terminology clarification).

by 'turn over' do you mean it cranks (engine turns with starter) but wont start? or that it wont crank with the starter.

I ask because many people come here and say it wont 'turn over' and we start chasing the wrong problem due to confusion in terminology.

Turns over means with the starter but doesn't crank. South Carolina here and if the engine cranks it's runnin'.
