Fuel tap leak

When i switch my fuel tap to off i get drips of fuel leaking from the tap ? If i leave it in the on position i get a drip gathering on the tap very occasionally ??? Any ideas ?

What year bike and how many miles?
Sounds like you need to rebuild the petcock (fuel tap).

There is a gasket between the petcock and the tank. On mine, the outer part of the tank where to petcock mounts had rusted (there is no paint there, just bare metal) and the gasket had flattened. I had to do some rust cleanup and replaced the gasket and no more leak.
