Gas cap assembly

Ok so recently I purchased a 94 VN750 and it did not come with a gas cap.
I recently also purchase a gas cap off of eBay which it seems to have all the pieces and is in good working order but I have one question before I put it on the tank. I've looked at many part diagrams showing a seal between the cap and the vent tube on the tank. They all state that is for the CA model. Which I'm not sure if I have that model or not. Just wondering if anyone could help and tell me if I need that seal or not... And if I do can you recommend something local I could use instead of having to order it online and waiting for it and costing me 8 bucks for a little seal?

Do you have any metal tubes coming from your tank at the seat end ?....If you do, its a Cali....if not, yer cool....at worst, theres a vent rubber in the mount part of the gas cap....just remove it....just remember not to overfill, and when gassing, keep it on the sidestand....its not a major issue....

Wolfie, if he has 2 tubes coming from his tank its a Cali. I have 3 bikes and all of them have only one vent coming from the tank. I'm all for just throwing the seal on there and calling it good, if you need it.

I got no tubes at all comin out the back of mine....mebbe that was just on the US 1985 ???....I got a nipple (Wolfie said "nipple") comin from by where my gauge sender mounts...thats it....

Mebbe I shouldnt talk much more since mine aint really a VN750....reason, is because they were more different than most say 700/750.....I just dont wanna fook nobody up......but, I got no tube at the back of my tank...I figured all non Calis were like that....I guess what they did, in later models, was to integrate the vent tube from the sender to the rear of the tank....

Just for reference, my 85 700 is a cali and has two nipples at the base of the tank, where the single frame bolt lies.
