petcock fuel line hookups

ok put tank on yesterday then went to hook up lines and the fuel line hookups on petcock were loose so pulled them out not sure if there supposed to have O- ring or whats wrong can anyone help ??

the nipples in petcock where loose? or the hoses where loose in the nipples?

I had that issue when rebuilding my Petcock.
I CAREFULLY applied the Black Gasket sealer, reinserted, let set (clamped with pressure) 12+ hours....no issues/problems.
I have clear plastic fuel (5/16") ...all appears fine ....carbs do not show any problems either (of Black Gasket sealer contamination).
