Installing slide spring seats, how firmly? Play in needles?

Finished cleaning my carbs. I just need to put the slides back in. When I removed them, the needle spring seats were kind of jammed on. SHould I just drop them in or do they need to be pressed in like they were?

And how far should the needle base be allowed to move in the slide?

Thanks

Garage
the springs should just slide in, the needle slides all the way in so that the head rests on top of the slide

Right. And I just set the plastic seats over the needles, or pressed on like they were when I took it apart?
