I'm new to the neighborhood, MCycling, and Vulcans so I'll apologize in advance for any misuse of terms and/or stupid questions.
I just got my VN back from a local Kawa dealer. It's a 1996 that I bought used and I had them do a full check and replace all the vital fluids.
They told me that the rear fuel float was sticking, under certain conditions, resulting in some fuel leakage and spotty performance for one of the twins. They suggested that I replace the float soon and that it would run me in excess of 500 bucks. In the interim, they suggested that I start the engine with the fuel reserve set to off, check the exhaust to make sure both twins are firing and then set the petcock to on.
I was wondering if you guys were familiar with this problem and what you thought of thier assessment. Based upon the exceptional feedback, in the Verses and various posts, I have added SeaFoam to the tank to see if that that helps, but I would appreciate any additional details--even prospective bad news.
I don't mind coughing up the dough, but I want to make sure it's necessary before I do.
Thanks in advance!
