Bike will only run on reserve

I have an 02 750. Got most of the problems worked out but there is one thing that is still kicking my ass.

When I go out if I have the petcock set to on after a bit of riding it'll shut of like it ran out of gas when it has a full tank. If I put it on reserve and leave it there, it's fine. Been running it on reserve for the past month. Just want to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Pull & clean out petcock & screen.
You may need to rebuild the petcock.

I'd just leave it on reserve. There's a fuel gauge ya know...
