Another stupid carb question

Hi folks,
Just got a 96 project. Removed and cleaned carbs (what a PITA). I ended up removing both boots to get the carbs off. Now time to re-install. On the boots I think I see the tabs for orienting the boots, but what do I orient the boot tabs to? Top? Bottom? What? Sorry for the question probably already answered somewhere but I didn't see it.

ok.. i thought they did... I don't think I ever lined any marks up.. I just twisted the intake boots around until they matched the carb position.

Cool

Just did the shave and then some. I did the trial and error thing to find the "tab". Little triangles hard to see on the boots and on the head it's at 12 o the clock
Hope this helps

If having cleaned the carbs, I determine that I have a solid engine and trannie, shaving the ears etc. will be on the list. It came to me in non-running condition. I gambled for $300. Needs small parts, levers, tach and some other stuff. It went down and then sat.

Correct, they should line up with a little notch.
