Seems like a few people have had this problem. I'm cruising along at 60-65 mph and all of a sudden the bike surges and the tach shoots up almost to red line and bounces around 5K-6K and then back down.
All my hoses seem to be tight. Tightened the battery cables, and started the bike for closer inspection.

Looks like i could see a leak on my petcock. While the bike was running I could see an area at a corner seam that looked like air was coming out of it.


Could this be the reason that this is happening?

Check the wire connection at the front coil.

Looks like the twist of the phillips head on the negative terminal did the trick.
