help! stranded! no gas in the lines!

Arg! Went out for a ride, bike stalled and would not restart. Battery was not very strong restarting, and then died.

Got a jump, even turning over strong it won't fire. The fuel lines are empty, or only partially filled... not filling, even on prime. Moving the petcock back and forth doesn't help. Also seems like I,ve got a lousy seal at the cap. Leaks fuel a bit. Any ideas? Tank is full.

Thanks!

Try starting and running with the fuel cap open.

Good deal. Clean the vent lines for the cap/tank aka: poogs.

Thanks. I've heard of this issue before now that you mentioned it. Sorry, working from my blackberry, should have done a better search, probably a million threads. Still worried about charging, was pretty soft cranking.

No problem, it is a vacum lock, bad design.

Question, have people experienced poogs with more than half a tank? My gas tank was nearly full.

It's the same at any level. With less fuel in the tank it is actually less noticable, air is compressable and liquid isn't. When you get a positive pressure, that is when your cap is leaking that you have mentioned. When it is negative it starves the carbs.
