ok what's the trick

I have gotten my carbs totally clean and put back together except I am stuck with a spring that I can't get back on. I am not sure what this gadget does but it is at the top of the carb and there is one like it on the rear carb linked by a rod to the other one.

There is only one spring on it and it is on the front carb. I can't get that spring on correctly.

Please tell me how this is done and if you can send a picture the way it looks will help a lot.

Blessings!
Rich

Maybe you can find a picture in there that will help you.
