Carb vents!

Hey all, first post. Bought a 86 VN750 that needed minor stuff about a month ago, enjoyed the couple of rides I've had on it so far.

Only reason I figured this out was another post about heavy wind causing a stumble. I was riding on a windy day and the bike would randomly stutter - I could accelerate out of it but it was annoying nonetheless. Sure enough, the vent hose was just sitting on top of the engine. I pulled it out to the side to measure for a replacement, then tucked it back under the tank until I could make it to the parts store. I rode the other day thinking it wouldn't happen again until sure enough, the bike almost died! I look down, and what do you know? The vent line popped out the side, creating a perfect vacuum setup. Tucked that baby back in and off we went.

Just posting this in case someone else runs across it. Super important to have that baby in the right side ear!

Did you cut the end of the hose off at a 45* angle so it cannot bottom out and get choked off if it gets pushed all the way to the bottom?
