Stuck Idle

hey guys, I had an unusual ride home today and wanted to see who else had experienced this. Bike is a 03 w/ 7K on odom. Have never had any issues with carbs before this...other than replacing the idle adjuster. While riding home, the idle was very slow to come down after letting off, and while accelerating the idle would stay at RPM while shifting. I was thinking the cables may need some lube, but when the bike is not running, the throttle snaps back fine. Maybe a vacuum leak?? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

My money's on a vacuum leak. I think the tried and true method is to run the bike and spray WD40 or similar around the various boot connections - a sharp increase in idle will tell you where your leak is.

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I still have no idea why.. If I turned off the bike it would run right but as soon as I gave it gas it would stay up around 3k.. Got her home and decided to look at it the day after and couldn't get it to do it again.

Check out the vacuum hose coming off the left carb and into the petcock. These seem to come off very easily. Also try the opposite side as well. Might be an easy fix.

Not me,,,,mine idles at 1k. But if i rev it,it takes too long to rest back at 1k. I tried messing with the idle adjuster but it makes no difference. thanks.

I have a 2004 and its doing the same thing. It seems to work good until it gets warm and then it takes a while to drop down to idle. Sometimes it will drop to about 1500rpm and stay there and never return to idle. When its cold its almost the opposite. They idle barley makes it to 1100rpm and have to run the choke alot longer thatn I should
