seen this before

my 86 is running great so far minus one complaint... idles perfect, revs instantly, power galore, acceleration great, cruizing any speed constant it seems almost to drop a cylinder, (sputters bud holds speed) hit the throttle and its there instantly... seems spark is good as it powers through with out a hesitation, one fix i saw on here was too much direct air flow on the vent lines for the center of carbs, i rerouted this to the vent under the tank on sending unit as one guy said this fixed his similar issue... just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how they fixed this... thanks ahead of time guys...

this might have fixed his issue.. but I don't think it will fix yours...cut the end of the hose at a 45 degree angle and put it back in the right ear.

If the bowl vent hose is flopping in the breeze it will cause problems .I used a lawn mower fuel filter from the hardware store in the end of mine and zip tied it to the frame underneath the gas tank with the arrow indicating fuel flow direction pointed out and the other end in the hose it can vent and air won't go back through it ,it also keeps insects and dirt daubers out of the hose.A couple of bucks and a few minutes, done

If you see it on my bike I did it

no ears... lol... sorry forgot to mention, ear shaved, custom exhaust, re-jetted, the vent hose has a lawnmower fuel filter in it, was tucked under seat nicely (not pinched) when i noticed the issue... one more i found was float hieght not set right... but bike didn't do this before ear-shave and exhaust to my knowledge... i have also put baffles in my custom pipes since noticing the issue but have't gotten to ride it yet to see how it goes as the front controls are off being modded for forward controls... just looking for other things to check/try in case i haven't fixed the issue when it's back out...

ok rode the bike again finally and still doing this... will idle all day no issues... accelerates great power galore... try to hold a constant speed down the road, (any speed) seems too flood itself? but you can power throught it if you open the throttle and let her rip... 40/140 jets 2.75 turns out air screws, ears shaved, custom exhaust with baffles, filters on all breathers and routed out of direct wind flow... and most of all still a bit lost...

I was about to post the same, if the needles are to high it'll do what youre describing, to low and she'll sputter cough and pop if trying to keep a normal cruise throttle position.
