Question about gas tanks?

So i have a 2001 vn750, I recently bought a second tank for a custom paint project. This tank is off an older tank, like an 89 or so.
Anyway, up by the crotch area there are 2 metal tubes sticking out, my newer tank on my bike only has 1.

What are these for, and why does mine only have one and this older tank have 2?

Is this older tank going to work?? What do i need to do with the other metal tube?

Thanks

The older tank is from a cali bike. The versis will help on that.

Yea, do some research on California models (oo la la). They have more emissions equipment. I believe the extra tube goes to a charcoal canister used to recapture gas fumes from the tank.
