Petcock Question

OK guys and gals,

I have seen several posts that mention to put the petcock to the Prime position. I looked at my 01 and it only has off, on & Reserve.
Are the later models different? I thought maybe it will prime in the RES position.

My old Yamaha had a PRI position.

You alls input would be welcome.

The type with on, off and reserve will not flow unless you have sucksion to the petcock.

Earliest 4 (I think) models from 1985 to `88, were the only ones with a PRIme position.
That is the only position that will flow fuel to the carbs w/o vacuum applied to the middle petcock nipple.
