Single Carb Conversion

Hello all, I am new to the forum and actually a Virago owner. Yet I have been asked to help a friend who has a 1985 VN700 that he would like to convert to a single carb.

First has this ever been done?
Second is there any documentation on it?
Third, are we crazy to go through with it?

Lastly, I converted my Virago over three years ago and wow, the simplicity of my system has been great.

Anyway, any help would be very appreciated

Never heard of anyone ever doing it. Do not know if it is possible.

How similar is the Virago carb to the vn750?
What carb did you put on the Virago?

Yes it is possible, but don't think I remember anyone actually doing it. the Vulcan 800 used one carb, So my thinking would be a little research there would be a good place to start.

You will likely have to fabricate all the input hoses to the cylnders , and alter the throttle cable.

Love for you to post info and photos of your attempt on this.

Years ago had a Bonneville which had a dual carb. I was stationed in Alameda, CA. A few of us sailors took off for Reno, NV. One of us had a Triumph Tiger which had a single carb but same engine. All was well till we got to altitude around Donner Pass. The Tiger started coughing and had a hard time keeping up.
