quick question

On the air box/plenum/surgetank, the one right above the carbs. I have a rubber open elbow (maybe right around 1/2) that i can not figure out if its supposed to be capped or if a hose goes to it or what. So my question what do i do with it, it just doesnt seem to be right cause wouldnt it pull unfiltered air? Well thanks Jason
