I hope I can make my self understandable (from Denmark).
I`m going to replace new boot (cab holder) on my front cylinder. I did not mark position on the old one.
The only marks I can see on the cylinder and on the boots is the little “excrescence“ where the
screwdriver point on the two fotos.
Most these two marks match? If so it will mean, that the widest part of the boot will be in the center of the engine ( and very difficult to put in)

Kind regards
Preben

You are correct, the tab or protrusion you are pointing at is the alignment mark for the boot.

Those alignments go to the top, and align with the mark on the heads.

The boots are also marked F for front cylinder, R for rear cylinder.

When installing, the front boot gets placed on the head, the rear boot goes on the carb, then install the carbs.

It helps to give the carbs and boots some spray lube before installing.

I just recently put mine in and did it from right to left.
First wiggled to the front cylinder then wiggled to the back cylinder.
