Restore the 86

So it's been awhile since I have been in here, I'm doing all that I can to restore my bike. So I'm doing away with the stator mod and such. I'm replacing the rotor/stator plate and pick ups. As I was riding from the shop where I broke down at, half way home I lost power to one cylinder had had to limp 100 miles home on the freeway. The shop told me that they had to sauder one of my pick up wires in place because it broke on them while fixing my stator. Sure enough that was the cylinder that died on my ( rear) so I'm going to replace both pick ups and coils, the stator plate, seals ( I leak oil no matter what I do) and alternator rotor. I pray this works or I will be out of options and have to sell the bike. I love this bike but I can't have it break down on me every week. And I don't have time to troubleshoot every issue I see

Don't worry!!, It's just a bump in the road.

Alright, I replaced the stator and cover, new seals and I timed the rotor and balencer. When I turn the choke on it dies, but at idle is sounds fine. When I give it gas the RPMs go up but won't come back down until I adjust the idle screw. A little back story was I had one of my pick ups die and ran on one cylinder for a while. I replaced the pick ups and now I'm running into all types of issues. Any ideas? I checked the compression and I'm at 120 on both cylinders

Don't worry!!, It's just a bump in the road.

It's like I'm running in one cylinder at idle then 2 when I give it gas. I'm at a complete loss

Don't worry!!, It's just a bump in the road.

Jets could be too big if it won't idle down. Did you change jet size?

at idle, does one of your exhaust pipes stay cold?if one cylinder isn't firing could have a sticky or dirty float needle, causing it to flood at low rpms

Could also be a clogged pilot jet. It gets no gas at idle and just above, then fires up when the main jet kicks in. Mine ran that way with one pilot jet plugged.

Rarely do you need a full motor rebuild.

Did you accidentally swap the pickup locations? That could lead to some real running issues.

If you're dropping a cyl its either fuel or electrical somewhere.
