I use a solor powered battery charger, have it hooked up when I am not riding. Bike sets outside under a home made sort of tent incloser. I don't have a garage. Keeps the battery charged to about 12.6 when the sun is shinning good, on cloudy days it drops off about a full volt.

I use one. Used one last winter, and the winter before that too. Works fine for me, no problems here. I don't use the "battery tender" model though, I think mine is made by Schumaker.

i use one on both my bike and my motorhome. As far as I'm concerned they are cheap insurance. My mh went through 2 sets of batteries before I wised up. mention setting MH and the warrenty on your battery grows wings.

I use one year round. As soon as she is parked in the garage she gets plugged in. My garage is detached and not heated, so it gets just as cold in there as outside. Also use them up at the hunt club on the tractor and ATV's. In the middle of January they all start right up. But then again, good batteries to start with so I guess the magic of the battery tender can be disputed but for the money it can't hurt. Not to go off topic but they also make a battery tender model that looks like a v-twin engine. Saw one at the stealer but did not see the price. Neat looking.
