Zero electrical anything? I myself have had no experience whatsoever with the fuses on this bike. Such a sudden death sounds like a fuse to me but someone will be along in a bit to render a more knowledgeable reply. I get the impression that it'll wind up being something more of an irritation than a big deal. Lets hope I'm right and its not the stator. Good luck to ya.

Check battery voltage first, then fuses. Could have stopped charging, blown a fuse, or the switch is dirty/defective.

check the wires under the speedo...could be a wire broke from the weld..that would explain the fuse blown if shorted out. I had a very similar experience with my 98..and that was the fix method..maybe worth a look

Also check the plugs under the left neck cover.

Turn the switch to the 'park' position, see if you get any lights.

there is an infamous wire in the headlight assembly that gets crimped and shorts... it's brown if i remember correctly... I had the same issue years ago. look in the headlight for frayed or broken wires
