Tail light out

Tail light went out. The bulbs are fine and the brake lights still work. One of the 10 amp fuses keep blowing. I tore her apart this weekend and replaced some wires that looked a little fried and worn but still have had no success in fixing the problem.

By the way I had some great long rides this summer. Hope you all did to.

Re: Tail light out

Most likely you have a wire shorting some place. Keep looking for a bare spot on one of the wires.. Wiring problems can be tough to find, but if it is blowing fuses you are shorting somewhere.

Keep at it

Re: Tail light out

I had a Volkswagen that started blowing fuses. My brother and I waited until dark then he stepped on the brakes while I had the rear brake covers off and could watch to see if I saw any arching...and sure enough we traced the problem to a wire that was bare and touching the metal around the rear brake light. Maybe waiting till dark and having a friend apply the brakes might allow you to see any arching. I'd also remove the seat before I tried this in case it's a wire under there that is shorting. More area to watch may help you find it sooner.
