Is the Xtreme Permaseal the Yuasa?

I was looking for a local source for an AGM-MF battery, and Sears seems to be dishing their Diehard for about ninety-five bucks these days. Batteries Plus has the Xtreme Permaseal High Performance AGM Powersport Battery - XTA14AHL-BS for just under seventy.

Now, I've read that some folks had issues with the Batteries Plus Xtreme battery, but there are two -- one branded Xtreme, and this "Xtreme Permaseal." The part number looks suspiciously like the part number for the Yuasa.

Does any one know if this is a rebranded Yuasa, like so many others out there?

That's the one I had and it's a piece of crap... YMMV of course. The Xtreme isn't a sealed battery (traditional flooded) IIRC, the Xtreme permaseal is...

Buy a Sears batt, a yuasa, or a wesco - and you'll spend 80-100 once (till it dies as all batteries do). Buy a batteries plus and it'll be $60 so you can spend it again within a year.

My opinion only of course, I just feel burnt by the batteries plus batt I had and don't want anyone else to get screwed by em too...

It is not made by Yussa. If I had to guess, I'd say it is made in China...(where all the crappy stuff comes from now....lol)

I've been using the Big Crank ETX15L battery since about April and it has worked great. Temp was 33 when I left for work this morning and it started right up with no problems.
I highly recommend it for $55.95

The Gig Crank Battery is a excellent battery, it comes with four connections instead of two for accessories.

Hey, I just found a great source for gell cell batteries. Contact mechman.com and ask for Matt. They represent XS batteries and are liquidating them. I bought a 12v 28ah battery for less than a standard battery. Matt will do you right!

OK, is it a "Gel" battery or a AGM (absorbed glass matt) battery??

Thanks for the info, folks. I'm more than willing to spend the extra thirty bucks for a good battery instead of rolling the dice on the Batt Plus battery. If it was the same, though, I'm all about putting that toward LEDs.

The Big Crank, though, looks promising. I'll have to weigh my options over the weekend, see if I can delay the gratification of getting a new battery and put up with the previous owner's for another week... the cold starts are getting painful.

Install NGK DPR7EIX-9 Iridium plugs they will greatly improve cold and hot starts.

Got the Iridium plugs down the street at the Advance Auto Parts, and decided to give the Big Crank battery a try. Since I'm planning to add LEDs to free up a few amps, the extra connectors for possible accessories seemed like a good idea. The down side is, I have to wait for the UPS guy now.
