Guys...Please , did I just short my new Stator??

Finally, after 6 months of working on my 2004 750, I installed my new Stator. I installed the original Kawasaki stator and coils and installed the dampers too. I ran the bike and I was getting 14.50 at idle and around 15.5 when I reve'd the engine up at they battery terminals. Took it for a ride and all was good yeaterday.

Till this morning, I started the bike and noticed one of the 3 "yellow" stator wires (bullet connectors) was Exteremely hot to the touch and it melted the outer plastic cover. I meausured the voltage and was getting around 15.5-6 V.

I turned the bike off and let it cool and restarted the bike and immediately noticed that I was only getting 13.2 something at the battery and never even reaching 14.V or higher. I looked at the connectors and made sure they were all connected and still getting 12.8-13.2 V at the battery.

From what I was told, Those 3 yellow wires do not have to be connected in any order, right? I am so worried now that I have damaged the stator. I have purchased it from a local Kawasaki dealer 6-7 months ago , paid close to $600-700 and I think I have a warranty but can you suggest what I should do ?

You should run the various stator tests and rectifier tests. You were getting an over-voltage situation (15.5v), which is not good news for the rectifier or battery. Can cause battery damage if it was long-term.
