White dash indicater

Hey guys, been running the bike with what seems to be no ill effects from my right plug arcing,as I checked all plugs out, just haven't messed with dielectric grease. I never noticed this before, reason for new thread is the white headlight indicator on my dash never lights up. When should it, I thought it was when the low beam was on. Nothing. The blue high beam comes on but the white light never. When I first got the bike and I put the key in,dash lights would light up,hit the start button, nothing. I would move it forward one notch, then back and bike would start up everytime. Instead of taking the ignition switch off, seemed too much for me,I just sprayed contact cleaner down the key hole and now it works fine, hot or cold. The white light never comes on??? I bought an Xtreme white plus after reading the verses about brighter light with same juice draw. I allways ride with the highbeam on as the low only shines a short distance in front of me.You're probably going to tell me to clean the ignition switch, but being an older bike I'm afraid of breaking those little tabs off. Changing the headlight seems easy enough, but I cant find any threads on when the white light should be on. Long winded I know but I like those night rides, and need a brighter headlight. Thanks.

That light indicates a failed headlight I believe, thus should not illuminate under normal conditions. I think the RLU lights it up?

This is 100% correct. When the selected filament (high/low) is burnt out, the white 'headlight' failure indicator light illuminates brightly, indicating that the RLU has switched over to the non-selected filament, and that the headlight should be replaced.

Correct as I understand it. On my particular bike the white light is on all the time but the low and high beam work properly. One day I have to check the RLU and possibly replace that one item.

Just below your name on the left side of all your posts it has "know it all......." I was just wondering if you know enough to post an introduction under the Newbie Check-In heading? I also was wondering if maybe you should have asked your question concerning LED bulb conversions under your own posting instead of stealing the thread of someone else. Just maybe you are very busy and couldn't find time to do the intro but you have been a member since June of 2014 so it is a little more than two years.

Oh by the way, getting the size and original bulb numbers is very easy but I am so busy that I don't have the time to post an answer for you right now. Maybe in two years I could do it. lol Besides I am sure one of the other members will chime in soon and give you an answer (if they have the time, lol).

Sometimes this forum is the best comedy available on the net and to think it is all free.

as a know-it-all on ancient technology, i should advise you to look at my profile before you get fly with me. Ive been on here off and on since Spring 2015. so drop the attitude and know that we are equals Commander. but thank you for the warm welcome and your so needed validation. pat yourself on the back for overreacting without doing your homework first.

Im guessing somebody knows something about Guage lights without being a DB ?
