Stopped Running

My bike is giving me fits. Replaced stator and rectifier (tuxedo modification) and bike ran fantastic. Went on a short cruise, and noticed a little "blip" in the throttle response. Stopped at a local business, and when i came out the battery was completely dead. Jump started the battery and got her home. Not knowing the status of the old battery (how old it was) I went ahead and replaced the battery with a new SHORAI Lithium. Again, bike fired right up and ran fantastic for awhile.

Suddenly today, the bike started acting up. Throttle response was poor. She was even backfiring a little....almost like she was starving for gas. At speed she seemed to be ok, but when I nursed her home, the battery was completely gone again....just like before. This time she just stopped running on her own...luckily in my driveway.

YES, I went cheap with my new stator. I am sorry...I am willing to pay the price...but, could the stator really be the culprit again? The bike runs very good with a fresh charged battery. What is happening?

Won't know until we get some numbers. Charge volts, and all the other numbers for the stator, r/r, and battery.

also, something a lot of people miss, is the ground system in the bike.. make sure all the grounds are good/clean/tight. they can seem to be ok on a fully charged battery, but a slight resistance on a bad ground connection will be more noticed when battery voltage is a little lower

Yep, first place to start is check all grounds and that the terminals are tight, then check the charging voltage with the bike running. If you're not getting at least 13.2 volts, the battery won't charge.
I'm not sure what the minimum charging volts for a lithium battery, but I know they are a bit more finicky than an AGM.

also, lithium batteries are far more particular about amount of charge they receive, and the rate at which they receive (their finiky-ness). our R/R will destroy a lithium battery, unless it has INTERNAL controls for the charging

Looking Better

So far, all the stator tests seem to be OK. The stator is putting out 13.6Volts at idle, but at 40-60 volts at speed. According to the test, it is not grounding out anywhere. I am checking my grounds right now, and I am bypassing the headlight relay. I have a sneaky suspicion about the plug which connects to the regulator. That thing did not look too good. Cleaned it up and reconnected it. Hoping for the best. Any other ideas?

Voltage between Stator and Battery

Another update: Battery voltage static: 12.74 Volts. Battery Voltage at idle: 12.74 Volts. Battery voltage at 3000 RPMs 12.74 Volts. No change at all. I will assume when the battery draws down from running lights etc.. it is not being recharged..hence...my problem.

Stator tested good..thank goodness. Somewhere between the battery and the stator output wires, current is not getting through to the battery. Yes, I did change out the rectifier already. I think I read a "sticky" on this site saying the bike should be putting out at least 13.6 volts while running at idle.

Thanks

By the way. I discovered my Stator was actually an Electrosport ,,,not a Caltec...not that it matters.
