Sparkplug wire set, what to buy?

So one of my wires kinda melted and also I need two of the long boots. They want like 30 bucks for the boots... each. I dont really want to buy the oems and break the bank so will a 8mm universal wireset with straight boots work? They have fiber optic wire inside the insulator fyi. What have you guys used for coil wires?

For example,

There's a thread on here with instructions and part numbers for making your own. Dennis Kirk carries the parts to make up new boots and wire assemblies. I think it's about $20 in parts as I recall.

Spark Plug Wire Replacement ............2007

You should consider buying NGK plug ends if you haven't already. They are
great looking and my directions are based on using them.

Dennis Kirk:
[email protected] or 1-800-328-9280

2 Part# 20306 NGK Spark Plug Cap XD05F $3.30 a piece.
2 Part# 20789 - NGK Spark Plug Cap LD05FP $4.80 a piece.

2- LD05FP and 2- XD05F are what NGK suggest to use on our VN750 bikes. :

******** All NGK caps are made for Stock 7 mm wire. *********

Note: Dennis Kirk sells 72 of 7 mm Wire. 60" is all you need for the VN750, you will have some to spare. $7.00 ?

Make sure you use copper core wire and not carbon core. 7mm is stock size, you can use 8mm but is harder to install with little to no gain.
