Rear Turn Signals

Hey all. On my '05 750 the rear turn signals are not illuminating unless the turn signal is activated. The fronts are both illuminated all the time, and flash brightly when the turn signal is activated. Is this normal (doesn't seem right!) and what do I do to fix it if it isn't normal? Thanks in advance, everyone.

yes this normal...the rear turn signals only light up when activated. in some states its illegal to have amber running lights. you can get a kit to make them into ruuning lights..you'll have to change the bulb to red or you can change the lense to red.

Thanks for your reply, cm4cm5. Is there consensus on this? It seems odd to me that they would be off in the back but on in the front. I would want as much light as possible to keep me visible. What say you???

Absolutely correct. There are no rear running lights unless you convert them. I just got a kit to do that - it has two rings of LED red lights, which get glued onto the inside of the lens. Then there's a series of wires that hook the LEDs into the power and brake leads, plus a relay, I guess, that overrides the LEDs when you turn either signal on. AMAZING difference in visibility. But now I can't remember the company from which I bought the kit - a few other folks have done this, so maybe someone will pipe in?? Help??

It's not really a consensus- the rear's are not suppose to be lit unless blinking. They are not running lights, they are just blinkers. The front's are both, running and blinking.

All bikes are like this, something about not interfering with seeing the brake/tail light. It's a manufacturer rule, not ours.

And lighting up as much as possible up front so others can see you coming.

Thanks all. For a while I thought I messed something up when I installed my LED tail light panel. Now I'm looking for LED turn signals, dual intensity for up front, single intensity for rear. I certainly would be interested in the rear turns being red running/brake lights that turn off and blink amber for when the turns are activated.

It is okay to have red turn signals at the rear. The rear running lights must be red.

Here's a link to the conversion kit that I bought (thanks to CCSpinner's recommendations). Easy to install and I feel much better having running lights in the back (those LEDs plus the CA LED lightboard and you can't miss me!).
