Looks like I'm SOL

I just bought a 2006 VN750 not even a month ago with only 8,000mi for $2,300, and already it looks like my stator is done-zo. The PO said it was replaced and I believed it because the bike has been overhauled with all sorts of aftermarket parts. Unsure if rectifier was replaced or if tuxedo mod is installed.

This morning it started just fine as it always would, ran fine all the way to work. I come out an hour later to try to start it, and the battery goes dead after a single click. None of the lights come can't seem to get it push started, and when I tried to jump start it a solenoid connected to the battery clicks rapidly.

Did a visual inspection of all grounds and connections and couldn't find any faults, and all the fuses are good. The battery, however, only reads 10.5v across terminals, but that may be from trying to start it and sitting for a week. I'll update once I get it fully charged and see if it'll start, then test the stator and rectifier.

What does this problem sound like if it won't even jump/push start?

Get it jump started and running first. Then check your voltage at the battery at idle and at 3,000 rpm and tell us what you find.

make sure to do the voltage tests with a fully charged battery. a low battery will throw the measurements off

Even could be something as simple as a lose or corroded battery cable.even with a dead low battery you should still see the lights, even though they are dim

I've finally gotten around to messing with it, but it won't jump start. Whenever I try, a rapid clicking noise comes from whatever the red wire plugs first plugs into off the battery. I don't know what that's a sign of, but I can't push start it either. Still don't have a voltmeter to test anything.

this leads me to believe you have a loose ground wire.

I checked the fuses, they're all good. The ground wire from the battery to the engine is tight as a tiger. Does anyone have a map to all the ground wires? And how can I clean the ignition switch? I store the bike outside and ride in all elements if that may lead to anything.
