pickup coil gap

Ok, I'm almost convinced that changing the pickup coil gap will improve my hot start problem. But before I do, I'd like to hear from some of those that have done this to see if it worked for them. Anyone out there who have made this adjustment? If so, did it solve your hot start problem? Did you have to do anything else besides changing the battery to a dry cell?
All info appreciated

I did the pickup coil mod. It was easy and since doing so I have had no starting problems ,( well once it was iffy but started and has been fine since)HOWEVER, I also switched to a MF battery and relocated the R/R and installed iridium plugs all at the same time, which also went along with a stator replacement and making sure the ground connections on the engine is clean and tight. Soooooo I cannot say that any one thing did the trick. It could have been the Colonels secret blend of 11 herbs and spices . I still am a little uncertain on a HOT day, stopping for gas. But so far so good. I know that this probably doesn't help but this is my situation and experience
